Our Beyond the Stage Performance this week comes from ONNY flutist Lauren Zwonik. Zwonik performs Frank Martin's Ballade for Flute and Piano. This 20th century work is the epitome of intensity; it is a political protest piece on Switzerland's view of the (then recently forming) Second World War.
This week, we bring you part two of Tim Savage's interview with Maestro Kenneth Andrews, Founder, Music Director and Conductor of The Orchestra of Northern New York; Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus and Professor Emeritus (Flute), Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam; Member, Adirondack Pro Musica. In this segment, Ken reminisces about the founding of the Orchestra and his fondest memories over the past 32 years.

Lorie Gruneisen, a member of the second violin section of ONNY, shares another original composition with us this week. Lorie's late son loved to attend medieval fairs and dance to the folk music. She wrote this very joyful, Celtic-sounding tune for him, titled "Celtic Sunrise". We hope you enjoy yet another original work, performed from Beyond the Stage!
ONNY's Young Artist Competition was established in 2007 for talented high school students. The program’s mission is to inspire young musicians to reach their highest level of artistry.
