Tracey L. Thompson is a seasoned advancement professional with 35 years of experience in senior leadership positions in higher education institutions and non-profit organizations. She currently serves SUNY Canton as Vice President for Advancement and Executive Director of the Canton College Foundation. She has been at SUNY Canton for six years.

Prior to that, Thompson held the VP for Advancement position at Centenary University in Hackettstown, New Jersey; Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania; Antioch University New England in Keene, New Hampshire; Boston Architectural College in Boston, Massachusetts; and Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Before entering the higher education field, Thompson was an Executive Director and Director of Development for a variety of non-profit organizations including the Kidney Foundation, Easter Seals, the American Diabetes Association and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Suffice it to say that she has solid leadership skills and a very broad background in fundraising, outreach, communications, staff and volunteer management, strategic planning and fiscal oversight. 

Thompson sums up her personal philosophy this way: “I believe that any individual can make a difference, and that all of us should try. My personal and professional goals are clear: to lead by example, to be of service, to contribute to the betterment of my community, and to inspire others to believe in their own abilities.”
